A Medium Velocity Water Spray (MVWS) system discharges water at medium velocity through open-orifice spray nozzles — providing cooling, surface wetting, and fire control across general industrial surfaces, cable trays, conveyor systems, and hydraulic power units. MVWS operates at lower discharge rates than HVWS, making it more economical for extended protection areas without the emulsification requirement.
Straight answers to the questions we hear most from facility owners and consultants.
HVWS (High Velocity Water Spray) uses high-velocity projector nozzles to emulsify and suppress fires on oil-filled equipment such as transformers and turbines. MVWS (Medium Velocity Water Spray) uses medium-velocity spray nozzles for cable trays, conveyors, and general industrial surfaces — HVWS follows IS 15105/NFPA 15 and MVWS follows IS 8633 and NFPA 15.
